Utah

Famous for the Great Salt Lake, this Mountain state also has incredible natural stone arches, pillars, and canyons. Capital is Salt Lake City.

Nevada

Home to Area 51, this mountain state is mostly desert with a few large cities, most notably Las Vegas. Capital is Carson City

New Hampshire

Similar to Vermont, this Northeastern state is know for its mountains and good skiing conditions. Capital is Concord.

Florida

A prominent peninsula that stretches into the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic Ocean, this Southeastern state is America's retirement home and amusement park. Capital is Tallahassee.

Delaware

A small, coastal state, this Northeastern state is known for its beaches. Capital is Dover.

Vermont

A small, rural state, this Northeastern state is second smallest in terms of population and is a major producer of maple syrup. Capital is Montpelier (the only state capital without a McDonalds!)

South Carolina

A smaller coastal state, this Southeastern state adopted the Palm tree for its nickname and state flag. Capital is Columbia.

Michigan

A state that is partially shaped like a mitten, this Great Lakes state is split into upper and lower peninsulas and home to Detroit. Capital is Lansing.

New Jersey

A suburb of New York City in the north and rural areas to the south, this Northeastern state has been subjects of MTV reality TV shows. Capital is Trenton.

West Virginia

After splitting from a larger state at the outbreak of the Civil War, this Southeastern state is known for the Appalachian Mountains. Capital is Charleston.

Connecticut

Another state that is greatly influenced by New York City, this Northeastern state is home to Yale University. Capital is Hartford.

Mississippi

Covered with forests, swamps, and hills, this Southeastern state has no cities over 200,000 people. Capital is Jackson.

Texas

Everyone is frequently reminded not to mess with this Great Plains state, which is one of the largest states in terms of size and population. Capital is Austin.

Tennessee

Famous for being the leading state for country music, this Southeastern state borders nine different states, the most of any state. Capital is Nashville.

Maryland

Famous for blue crabs and the Chesapeake Bay, this Southeastern state is home to Baltimore and gave up land to create Washington, DC. Capital is Annapolis

Nebraska

Famous for tornadoes and growing corn, this Great Plains state is the site of the College World Series. Capital is Lincoln.

Arkansas

Former president Bill Clinton was governor of this Great Plains state, which is also the home of Walmart. Capital is Little Rock.

Missouri

Home of the Gateway Arch and St. Louis, this Great Plains state is home to former United States President Harry S. Truman. Capital is Jefferson City.

New York

Home of the largest city in the United States, this northeastern state also has a wide expanse of mountains and lakes upstate from the city. Capital is Albany.

Kentucky

Home of the most famous horse race in the world, this state Southeastern state also has a type of grass named after it. Capital is Frankfort.

Colorado

Home to Denver and the United States Air Force Academy, this Mountain state is famous for being home to the best skiing in the United States. Capital is Denver.

Ohio

Home to cities like Cleveland and Cincinnati, this Great Lakes state shares a border with Pennsylvania and is very similar in size and population. Capital is Columbus.

Illinois

Home to one of the largest cities in the United States, Chicago, this Great Lakes state is almost identical in population to Pennsylvania. Capital is Springfield.

North Dakota

Home to the city of Fargo, this Great Plains state is where Carson Wentz went to college. Capital is Bismarck.

Minnesota

Known as the Land of 1,000 lakes, this Great Plains state is home to the twin cities, Minneapolis and St. Paul, and Target. Capital is St. Paul.

Georgia

Known for growing peaches, this Southeastern state is mostly associated with it's state capital, Atlanta. Capital is Atlanta.

Kansas

Known for tornadoes and lack of hills, this Great Plains state is located at the geographic center of the United States. Capital is Topeka.

Louisiana

Known for widely being prone to hurricanes, this Southeastern state is home to the city of New Orleans. Capital is Baton Rouge.

Washington

Named for the first President of the United States, this Pacific coast state is home to Seattle and Starbucks. Capital is Olympia.

Virginia

Once site of the capital of the Confederate States of America, this Southeastern state is one of the oldest settlements in the United States. Capital is Richmond.

Massachusetts

One of the earliest settlements in the United States, this Northeastern state was the starting point of the American revolution in its capital city. Capital is Boston.

North Carolina

One of the fastest growing states in the United States, this Southeastern state is home to much of the United States' military. Capital is Raleigh.

Montana

One of the largest states in the United States, this Mountain state is commonly known as Big Sky Country. Capital is Helena.

Wisconsin

Widely known for making cheese, this Great Lakes state is home to one of the oldest and most legendary NFL teams. Capital is Madison.

Alabama

Widely recognized as a symbol of the South, this Southeastern state is home to the university that has dominated college football for the last decade. Capital is Montgomery.

Arizona

Know for blazing temperatures, this Mountain state is home to Grand Canyon National Park. Capital is Phoenix

Idaho

Know for growing potatoes, this Mountain state has a very long panhandle and borders Canada. Capital is Boise.

Iowa

Known as the Hawkeye state, this Great Plains state is recognized as one of the safest states to live in. Capital is Des Moines.

New Mexico

The fifth largest state in the United States, this state is home to Albuquerque and was where the first atomic bomb was developed. Capital is Santa Fe.

Alaska

The largest state and the second to last state to join the United States, this Pacific state borders Canada, not the United States. Capital is Juneau.

Hawaii

The last state and one of the two states that does not directly border the lower 48 states, this Pacific state is commonly seen as a tropical paradise. Capital is Honolulu.

Oregon

The middle Pacific coast state in the United States, this Pacific state is home to Portland and where Nike was started. Capital is Salem.

Maine

The northernmost state in the Lower 48, this Northeastern state is only populated near the coast and is the closest US state to Africa. Capital is Augusta.

Pennsylvania

The second state to join the Union, this Northeastern state is where you live. Capital is Harrisburg.

Oklahoma

The shape of a frying pan and home to many tornadoes, this Great Plains state is home to the NBA's Thunder. Capital is Oklahoma City

South Dakota

The site of Mount Rushmore, this Great Plains state is mostly known for having the faces of four presidents carved into a mountain. Capital is Pierre.

Indiana

The site of the most famous Indy car race, this Great Lakes state is also where Notre Dame University is located. Capital is Indianapolis.

Rhode Island

The smallest of the United States, this Northeastern state is roughly double the size of Dauphin County. Capital is Providence.

California

The state with the largest population, this Pacific coast state is home to Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco. Capital is Sacramento

Wyoming

The state with the smallest population in the United States, this Mountain state is home to Yellow Stone National Park. Capital is Cheyenne.
