Midwest Region

Climate: cold and snowy winters, summers are hot or mild. Man-Made Landmarks: Mount Rushmore in South Dakota. The Gateway Arch located in St. Louis, Missouri-Known as "the Gateway to the West". Tallest national monuments in the U.S. Resources: has really good soil, iron ore (used to make steel)-Vegetation: crops such as wheat, corn, and soybeans.

Northeast Region

Climate: cold, snowy winters and rainy springs,. Summers are hot or mild. Vegetation: forests (pine trees, maple, and oak), apple trees, and pumpkins. Resources: Trees used for furniture, paper, pencil. Atlantic Ocean is a natural resource, it provides lobster, crabs, oysters and fish. Granite and marble are other natural resources. Natural Landmarks: Niagara Falls Man-Made Landmarks: Statue of Liberty known for its symbol for freedom

Southwest Region

Climate: hot, dry summers, cold and snowy winters, warm and rainy near the Gulf of Mexico Vegetation: saguaro (giant cactus), wildflowers, pine trees. Natural Landmarks: Grand Canyon-formed by the Colorado River. Man-Made Landmark: Glen Canyon Dam. Natural Resources: minerals (copper, silver, and uranium), oil

West Region

Climate: some areas are hot and dry, has the wettest place in our country (Mount Waialeale) Vegetation: cacti, grasses, wildflowers, strawberries, lettuce and other fruits and veggies. Many types of trees grow in this region and are used for houses, furniture and more. Natural Landmark: Mount Denali, Devils Tower Man-Made Landmarks: Golden Gate Bridge

Southeast Region

Florida is located in this region. Natural Resources: coal, trees (cedar trees), phosphate. Natural Landmarks: Florida Everglades-Largest wetland areas on Earth. Man Made Landmarks: Cape Henry Lighthouse Climate: mild winters, hot, humid summers. Region gets lots of rain. Vegetation: oranges, peanuts, rice, and cotton
