staff

5 lines and 4 spaces on which music is written (5 líneas y 4 espacios en los que se escribe música)

Treble Clef

Also called the G clef because the ending curl circles a line naming it "G". Usually this line is the 2nd line of the staff. (También llamada clave G porque el rizo final rodea una línea que lo nombra "G". Por lo general, esta línea es la segunda línea del pentagrama)

metronome

a device that gives a steady beat with which to practice at different speeds (un dispositivo que da un ritmo constante con el que practicar a diferentes velocidades)

repeat sign

a symbol with two vertical lines and two dots that indicates what section of the music should be repeated. (un símbolo con dos líneas verticales y dos puntos que indica qué sección de la música se debe repetir.)

damper pedal

another name for the sustain pedal because it raises all the dampers off the strings so they keep vibrating after the player releases the key. (otro nombre para el pedal de sostenido porque levanta todos los amortiguadores de las cuerdas para que sigan vibrando después de que el jugador suelta la tecla.)

dynamics

degrees of volume in music (grados de volumen en la musica)

space note

note located between two lines of a staff (nota ubicada entre dos líneas de un pentagrama)

line note

note with a line running through the middle of the oval (nota con una línea que atraviesa el medio del óvalo)

measure

section of a ​musical staff, between two bar lines, each having the same number of beats as the top number of the time signature (sección de un pentagrama musical, entre dos líneas de compás, cada una con el mismo número de tiempos que el número superior del compás)

bar line

single vertical line, on the staff, that creates measures (sola línea vertical, en el pentagrama, que crea medidas)

piano brace

time signature

sustain pedal

the far right pedal on a piano that, when pushed down, allows the note to continue ringing after the finger lifts from the key on the keyboard. sustain = hold longer. music form

transpose

double bar
