During WW1 there were a lot of different tactics being used that had not really been seen prior to it; for example, machine guns, tanks, chemical weapons and aircraft. Also, in WW1 nations from across the world (hence the name) fought in Europe to protect their allies or fight for what was the right thing to do, and for the first time brought the US into European conflict. I thought the most interesting information that I learned about WW1 is how long the US stayed neutral during the beginning of the war. It took the US three years to get involved in the war, since they had not alliances with any European nations. I think it helped us in the end get a clear head on what was the right side to fight for. As soon as the Germans sank the Lusitania ship the US new they had to get involved and fight for what was right.

People today learned that over time the Treaty of Versailles influenced the German nationalism and was the indirect cause for WW2. We learned that the demands ended up causing Germany's inflation in the 20s and the rise of Nazi power.

President Wilson

What nation signed an early peace with the Central Powers and got out of the war because the Bolsheviks had taken over the government and established the worlds first communist nation?

List and explain three causes of WWI. Select the cause that you think was the most important and tell why.

The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand the heir to the throne of the Austrian- Hungary Empire. Serbia assassinated the heir to the throne resulting in Austria-Hungary to declare war on them. I think this was the most significant event because it is described to be the event that started WW1. Imperialism was one cause of WW1 because the competition for a greater empire led to an increase in confrontation that helped start WW1. Nationalism was another contributing factor to WW1 because each country tried to prove their dominance and power. It started originally with the people in Bosnia and Herzegovina to no longer belong to Austria-Hungary and belong to Serbia.

The German submarine warfare sunk many ships and thus lead to the United States stepping in to help conquer them. It is believed that if the Lusitania ship had not been destroyed the United States would have stayed neutral.
