-The cause of the Texas War for independence was that Mexico had "tyranny" and was ruled by a "tyrant". They claimed they werre being treated unfairly. Mexico wanted them to follow their rules and convert to be catholic in order to live there, and Texans did not want to. -Stephen F. Austin was a man who delivered over 300 families and showed their way to Texas. They were some of the first American settlers. Davy Crockett played a role in the Texas War for Independence and lost his life at the Alamo.

The Alamo was a mission from Mexico that was converted into a fort. IT was besieged by Mexican troops in 1836. The Texas garrison held out fo r13 days, but in the final battle, all Texans were killed by a larger Mexican force.

The purpose of the Missouri Compromise was to balance out free and slave states in order for Maine to become a state. When Maine was a state, it was a free state. Missouri became a state as well, though it was a slave state.

New Mexico and California territories were acquired from the Mexican Cession of 1845 after America won against them in the Mexican American war. The Gadsden Purchase was a purchase that included southern Arizona and southwestern New Mexico.
