As a tool for justice - It transforms knowledge by incorporating the ideas, experiences, and cultural perspectives of previously excluded groups. Can use this knowledge to advocate for policies/practices to eliminate inequalities

1. Intelligent - Often a professional or career woman 2. Pretty & Sexy - Intelligence enhances sexiness 3. Fast-talkers - Quick witted, has good communication skills and snappy comebacks 4. In control of sexuality - "loose" according to 30s/40s morals 5. Physically Agile - Slapstick is often used to diffuse sexual tension in films during this time period

Four Action Heroine Types

1. Mother - Maternal because the motivating characteristic is to protect a/their child or is driven by the memory of a dead child. 2. Feisty - Jumps between masculine and feminine roles and often becomes the love interest of the hero. Capable of taking care of themselves, but may end up relying on a man. 3. Tomboy - Remains a masculine character the entire time. Tends to be butch, dresses androgynously, and not overtly sexual. 4. Fantasy - Exaggerated woman heroine who is extremely sexualized in clothing, actions and speech. Typical heterosexual male fantasy; uses sexuality to get what she wants.
