Conceptual Framework

Explains abstract concepts and ideas through graphics or diagrams.

Theoretical Framework

Explains theories, and principles that can support your study.

EXAMPLE of IPO

-INPUT- Profile of Entrepreneurs a. Age b. Sex c. Seminar Roles of Entrepreneurs a. Assessment b. Planning Implementation Evaluation -PROCESS- Analysis of Data -OUTPUT- Profile and roles of entrepreneurs are determined

EXAMPLE of P Model

-IV- Teaching Competence of Senior High School Teachers • Knowledge Level • Pedagogical Skills • Classroom Management -V- Level of Performance of ABM Students • Academic Grades • Behavioral Attributes • Peer Evaluation Result -PROPOSED PROGRAM- Faculty Development Program

EXAMPLE of IV-DV or PC Model

-IV/PREDICTOR- Teaching Methodology used by Instructors • Computer-Assisted Instruction • Demonstration Method -DV/ CRITERION- Level of Performance of Grade 12 Students • Academic Grades • Practicum Grades • Parents' Satisfaction

DESIGNING YOUR CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK

1. familiarize yourself with the variables in your study. 2. Do not forget to indicate below your diagram the words (Figure #. Paradigm of the Study) 3. After designing your conceptual framework, explain it in words briefly to help your reader further understand the diagram you designed.

THE IPO MODEL (Input-Process-Output)

1. most common being used in research papers 2. used when researchers try to isolate the factor that causes the problem.

THE IV-DV or PC MODEL (Independent Variable - Dependent Variable/ Predictor - Criterion)

1. used in experiment-based research, or if the research wants to highlight the relationship between the two variables. 2. focuses on the influence of the first one to the second one

The PO Model (Proposed Original)

1. used when a researcher presented the conceptual framework in his/her own way. 2. it has to be scientific meaning, the elements in your research should be presented systematically

THE P MODEL (Propose a Program' Model)

proposed intervention measure that can be done once the influence of the IV to the DV is determined.

1st thing to remember when designing a CP model

remember when designing a conceptual framework is to think of the relevant variables. Commonly, they are the independent and dependent variables.

Models of Conceptual Framework

1. IPO Model 2. IV-DV/PC Model 3. P Model 4. PO Model

Designing your Conceptual Framework

1. The variables should be put in a box. 2. Arrow indicates causal (cause-effect) relationship or process. 3. Line indicates connection or correlation
