It probably meant a lot and was quite meaningful to have a family event of quilting, also this is where Maggie learned how to quilt. At this event, some girls in the family gathered in unity and quilted. As one can see, the quilts have a symbolize a special little thing called family heritage and unity.

The reader would learn what concerns the teacher about Emily.

Do you think Emily's mother in "I Stand Here Ironing" is a reliable narrator? In a paragraph of 100 words, explain your answer using at least two examples from the story to support your viewpoint.

Yes and no, I think that the mother as the narrator is reliable in some parts of the story, and in others, not so much. I think that because the story is written in third-person point of view, and is limited to what the mother knows about her child, we do not know everything about what is going on, therefore we do not know the entirety of the story. For example, if Emily was telling the story, we would know a little bit more of what went down from her perspective. I think the mother as the narrator is reliable in the way we know what went down in her life, but not everything in her daughter, Emily's, life.

Heritage is embraced by carrying on family traditions.

In a well-developed paragraph, discuss how you think the story would have been different if the author had told it from a different point of view. Choose either Emily's or the teacher's point of view and discuss at least three possible ways the story would change, using specific examples from the story to support your answer.

I think the story would have been quite different if the author chose to write it in a different point of view, other than Emily's mother. For example, if the story was written from Emily's point of view, the story would've changed juristically due to the fact that we would have a better understanding of what was going on in the main character's head. We would've had a greater understanding of how Emily changed through the years she spent at a convalescent home, we would've seen her perspective of her childhood, and we would have a better understanding in general of Emily's mental health. This would have changed the story in the way we could see a different side of the entire story and get a fuller story in general.
