Organic Form

most things in natural world: irregular an unpredictable, living things change constantly, can be used for expressive effect

Geometric Form definiton

regular forms, readily expressible in words or mathematics

What types of objects have volume?

solid objects and objects that enclose an empty space

Mass

suggests that something is solid and occupies space, can suggest weight but it does not necessarily imply heaviness

Texture

tactile sensation when we physically encounter a three-dimensional form, relies mostly on impressions we receive from our hands, we can imagine form's texture without actually touching it

Form

three-dimensional object, have two basic attributes: volume and mass

Open Volume

enclose a space with materials that are not completely solid, they create an open volume

Three-dimensional Art

have height, width, and depth - possess four of the visual elements: form, volume, mass, and texture

Form in Relief

a work in which forms project from a flat surface, designed to be viewed from one side

Volume

amount of space occupied by an object

Form in the Round

can be seen from all sides
