ADH release (kidneys)
what happens after osmoreceptors sen impulses out?
ADH(antidiuretic hormone) is released
what does the permeability of the distal tubule and collecting duct do?
allows more water to be reabsorbed into blood
what happens when there is more water reabsorbed in the blood?
blood dilutes and osmotic pressure is lowered to normal
what happens when less ADH is released?
distal tubule and collecting duct are less permeable to water
what happens when there is less permeability in the distal tubule and collecting duct?
less water reabsorption in blood and more water is excreted in the urine
what happens after osmotic pressure increases?
osmoreceptors in the hypothalamus send impulses to the adjacent pituitary gland in the brain
what happens when osmotic pressure is too low?
osmoreceptors stop the release of ADH
what happens when blood plasma becomes too concentrated?
osmotic pressure increases
what happens when ADH reaches the kidneys?
permeability of distal tubule and collecting duct increases
where does ADH travel to when its released?
travels through the blood to the kidneys
