Compare and Contrast the structure and function of arteries, veins, and capillaries

Arteries, Veins, and Capillaries are all part of the heart wall. Arteries = thicker layer, carry blood away from heart. Veins = Thinner walled, carry blood towards heart, wider diameter. Capillaries = thinnest walled, lack 2 outer wall layers, enhances exchanged across capillary.

Define Blood Pressure, How is it measured?

Blood pressure = pressure of blood against walls of the blood vessels, especially arteries. Blood pressure is measured by using two numbers. the first number is the systolic pressure (measures the pressure in your blood when your heart beats). second number = diastolic pressure = measures pressure in blood vessels when your heart rests between beats.

What is a pulse? name three pulse points

Pulse = the rhythmic throbbing felt where blood is being pumped/propelled through the attires. 3 pulse points = Carotid (neck), Brachial artery (inside of elbow), radial artery (wrist).

What is considered to be high blood pressure?

Systolic pressure is 140 or anything above 120 and diastolic pressure is over 80 by 5 to 10 or anything higher.

Describe the 3 coats (tunics) of the walls of blood vessels.

The tree coats of the walls of blood vessels are usually the Tunica intima, Tunica media, and Tunica externa. Tunica intima = inter most layer of atery or vein, made up of one layer of endothelial cells. Tunica media = middle layer of artery or vein, lies between tunica intima and externa. Tunica externa = outer most layer of a blood vessel, mainly composed of collagen.
