Essay.) What were the Navigation Acts? And how did the Navigation Acts effect the colonists?

The Navigation Acts were a series of laws between 1651 and 1673 that directed the flow of goods between England and the colonies. The Acts prevented the colonists from sending certain products such as sugar or tobacco, outside England's empire. So without being able to send goods to other countries, the colonists made no money from trade during those years.

What colonies used subsistence farmering?

The New England colonies.

What differences existed between the Tidewater planters and the backcountry farmers of the south?

The Tidewater planters grew on a region of flat, low lying plains along the seacoast. Tidewater planters' plantations were large and often located on rivers so crops could be shipped to market by boat. The backcountry farmers of the south planted on a region of hills and forests climbing up to the Appalachian Mountains. The backcountry farmers grew corn and tobacco on small farms.

Part 1.) How did the soil in the Middle Colonies differ from that in New England?

The soil in the Middle Colonies was more fertile than the soil of that in New England. This allowed more crops to be grown in the Middle Colonies while in New England they were big on industry.
