Cyrus the Great
Established massive Persian Empire by 550 B.C.E.; successor state to Mesopotamian empires., c. 530 B.C.E. A Persian ruler who captured Babylon. He was known for his mercy. He was tolerant of other religions and culture, and even incorporated different architectural styles into his buildings.

Unified Monarchy
From years 1020-922 BCE. This is the period of the first kings. During the Unified Monarchy, Saul, then David, then Solomon are the first kings. David is significant because of his battles with the Philistines and him making Jerusalem the capitol; this is advantageous because it was a good defensive location and is a central area between the Northern and Southern tribes. Additionally, Solomon built the first temple and expands the territory that the monarchy controlled. His reign declines because of some problems: he organized massive scale building projects, so taxes increased and he used forced labor. Shortly after his reign, the country splits into two kingdoms, ending the Unified Monarchy period.

King David

He wanted to build a temple for the Lord for a permanent spot for the arc of the covenant but God said he could not because he was a man of war but his son Solomon would built it.
Israelite Kingdom
Wandering israelites returned to Canaan and joined other Hebrew tribes. Loosely organized into a confederation of 12 Tribes under King Yahweh.
