-Word processing/publishing: Helps organize thoughts. ex. Goggle Docs -Calculators/spreadsheets- these can be used in math classes to help organize data and solve problems or in other classes to give students a way to organize information. -Text, audio, or video based communications- can be used to create content to present to the class. -Graphics- can be used to teach a concept such as with comic strips. -Presentations- allows for information to be given/ demonstrated to a group of people -Games and Simulations- these allow students to practice skills and concepts in fun ways. Learning as well as problem solving is in play with this category of software.

The 4 Factors for Fair Use for Teachers

1.Purpose and Character - a work can be considered Fair Use if its being used for educational purposes, commentary, research, or as transformative 2. Nature of work -certain factors determine fair use such as - wiether its published -Factual works more likely fair use. -Nonfiction is more likely going to be fair use. Gov. public record -Consumables such as work books not fair use. 3. Amount of work used -The smaller the amount of original work is used. it most likely qualify as fair use. if the portion is smaller than whole more likely fair use. 4.The effect on the market -if the work appeals to a different audience than more likely fair use.

Technology Lab

A set-up of 20-30 computer or mobile devices to teach lessons simultaneously which can help the teacher be more effective. Allows for all computers to be on one network and sharing the same software. This is different from the multiple-device classroom as the class moves to a technology lab from their classroom, while in the multiple-device classroom setup everything is in one room

Technology Carts

A way for schools to provide laptops for the class by putting them on carts, this is a way a school can go without permanent installation of the devices. Provides a way for teachers to use computer devices when needed. Allows mobility of the carts and makes traveling with computers easier. Unlike going to computer lab which, may not be available for the time needed.

Multi Device Classroom

Classrooms have many computers or devices in the room available to students. Allows for group work in the classroom or multiple kids on one device simultaneously. This setup is becoming one of the more popular ways for classrooms to be set up in terms of technology

Computer Assisted Instruction

Computer-Assisted Instruction (CAI) helps students learn specific knowledge and skills. Technology is used to reinforce classroom instruction, for example: drill and practice, tutorials, extended and/or more complicated problems, review problems, practice problems, and many more.

Computer-Managed Instruction

Computer-Managed Instruction (CMI) is the term for a broad category of applications designed to assist in the management of the instruction process. Examples include: myCourses, Poll Everywhere, and Google Classroom. These programs help you run your classroom but do not actually do any of the teaching.

Single Device Classrooms

There is one computer per classroom in this setup. The teacher has several options for use in this format. A large group can be given the computer to use, the class can be split into small groups and take turns using the computer, and the computer can be used as a learning center for students who need or want individual help or practice.While the teacher is somewhat limited because only one device is available, there is also greater flexibility and variation in lessons and activities.
