Coracobrachialis Muscle Test: Position: Client is seated. The shoulder being tested is flexed, the elbow is completely flexed & the forearm is supinated. Stabilize: The opposite shoulder. Procedure: Pressure is applied to the lower aspect of the anteromedial humerus in the direction of extension & slight abduction.

(Arm flexed like a Cobra) Have client seated Arm straight out Palm up Flex your elbow Flex your shoulder (like a cobra) I will test the muscles against the forces of Flexion and ABduction I am going to Stabilize the opposite shoulder (stand in front) I will grab the distal humerus of arm I am going to push down and Extend and ADduct the arm (opposite way); now resist (awesome)

1) Coracobrachialis: O: Coracoid Process (Scapula) I: Medial Mid-Shaft (Humerus) A: Glenohumeral : Flexion ADduction I: Musculocutaneous Nerve

Coracobrachialis Action:

Glenohumeral: Flexion ADduction

Coracobrachialis Insertion:

Medial Mid-Shaft (Humerus)

Coracobrachialis Innervation:

Musculocutaneous Nerve

Coracobrachialis Trigger Point:

When tight, this muscle has trigger points, and the client will not be able to reach far across the back. After correct treatment, this ROM is increased.
