Coracobrachialis
Coracobrachialis Muscle Test: Position: Client is seated. The shoulder being tested is flexed, the elbow is completely flexed & the forearm is supinated. Stabilize: The opposite shoulder. Procedure: Pressure is applied to the lower aspect of the anteromedial humerus in the direction of extension & slight abduction.
(Arm flexed like a Cobra) Have client seated Arm straight out Palm up Flex your elbow Flex your shoulder (like a cobra) I will test the muscles against the forces of Flexion and ABduction I am going to Stabilize the opposite shoulder (stand in front) I will grab the distal humerus of arm I am going to push down and Extend and ADduct the arm (opposite way); now resist (awesome)
1) Coracobrachialis: O: I: A: I:
1) Coracobrachialis: O: Coracoid Process (Scapula) I: Medial Mid-Shaft (Humerus) A: Glenohumeral : Flexion ADduction I: Musculocutaneous Nerve
Coracobrachialis Origin:
Coracoid Process (Scapula)
Coracobrachialis Action:
Glenohumeral: Flexion ADduction
Coracobrachialis Insertion:
Medial Mid-Shaft (Humerus)
Coracobrachialis Innervation:
Musculocutaneous Nerve
Coracobrachialis Trigger Point:
When tight, this muscle has trigger points, and the client will not be able to reach far across the back. After correct treatment, this ROM is increased.
