Why is it important to eat foods each day from each of the five food groups?
In order to stay healthy, you'r body needs a certain amount of nutrients. Because not all essential nutrients needed by the body can be found in one certain food, you must eat a variety of foods from the five food groups. The five food groups include; fruits, grains, vegetables, proteins, and dairy.
According to the My Plate and other related charts, why is it important to know what a "serving" is?
It is important to know what a serving is for the reason that if you are not eating the correct serving (being not enough or too little) can cause you to be unhealthy. You do not want to over eat a certain food, which is why the portion size or serving size reccomended becomes very important.
