Compound/Complex Sentence
More than one independent clause and more than one dependent clause.
Complex Sentence
One independent and one dependent clause. Made of one section that can stand on its own while another part cannot exist without the independent clause.
Compound Sentence
One independent clause with another independent clause. Two sentences put together that can stand alone. Usually joined by conjunctions, semicolons, or commas.
Simple Sentence
One independent clause. Made up of one sentence in itself.

The dog is red and it can run far out on the beach.
