Arthur had accepted the fact that he was dying, so he wanted to make his last request before he died

Describe the way Arthur becomes King.

Arthur was the only person in the land that could pull the sword from the anvil. The rock had a sign on it that said "whoever pulls this sword from this stone and anvil is king of all England by right of birth"

Why does Bedivere hesitate to carry out Arthur's request?

Because he doesn't know about the lady of the lake and that it was silly to throw a nice sword into the lake.

Everyone was pretty sad after hearing the news that the king was dead, except for Sir Ector. He was very mature about it and didn't seem to show too much emotion.

He could hear and see better

Igraine was loyal to her king even though Uther wanted to sleep with her, she refused and stayed loyal.

How is the new king of England to be chosen?

The new king is selected by whoever can pull the sword from the anvil that's in the rock that's outside the church.

why does the Wart attempt to pull the sword from the sword?

The wart attempts to pull the sword from the stone because Sir Kay needed a sword for the jousting tournament because Kay forgot his. Wart was told to go fetch Kay's sword but the inn was locked and no one was there, so he thought the sword in the stone was a war memorial.

How does the Wart feel about being King and why?

The wart feels overwhelmed at first. He doesn't realize that he is king just yet and starts to cry when everyone starts acting differently around him.

What are Merlin's instructions to Uther? What is Merlin's ultimate goal? What is Sir Ector's role in Merlin's plan?

To change Uther's appearance to look like The Duke, don't speak to anyone, go straight to the Duke's chamber, sleep and make love to Queen Igraine, and wait for Merlin in the morning. Merlin's ultimate goal is to get the baby once it's born. Sir Ector's part is to take the baby once it's born and bring it to Merlin.

Uther still went to the battle that was happening outside of his realm. He was put onto a litter of 2 horses and was there to lead his men into the battle and later was in a coma.
