Main Idea: What the story is about. Theme: The lesson or message that the writer wants to get across in his or her story.

This is a playwright made by Josefina Lopez about being an undocumented immigrant from Mexico. She crossed the border with her three daughters to East LA after her husband cheated on her. When she came to America she had a small business selling elotes (corn). She occasionally gets stopped and arrested by the police for her business. At the end she talks to politicians about legalizing her business and about being an illegal immigrant.

This playwright was written by Tim Miller talking about him being gay and immigrating to the US from Australia. This was at a time when gay marriage was not legal. He faced discrimination because he was gay. At the end of the play he immigrates to the US alone because his boyfriend could not get citizenship in the US.
