the combination of 2 or more distinct adjacent ranges
auto complete
the feature that helps make enetering repetitive text easier; type text into active cell excel displays text that beings with the same letters as a previous entry in the same column
cell
the intersection of a single row/column.
column heading
the letters along the top of the worksheet that identify the different columns in the worksheet
range reference
the location & size of a cell range
edit mode
the mode in which you can edit cell contents
drag & drop
the technique to move a cell or range by selecting it positioning the pointer over the bottom border of the selection & than dragging the selection to a new location
auto fitting
to eliminate empty space by matching the row height or column width to it's tallest or longest cell entry
truncated
to hide from view
cutting
to place cell contents into a computer memory or on the clipboard- contents then can pasted from clipboard into a new location in the worksheet
delete
to remove both the data & the cells from the worksheet
clear
to remove, such as data from a worksheet where the data had been or a filter
auto sum
(sum button) a button that inserts excel functions to sum average, or count all the values in a column or row or display the min/max value in a column or row
cell range
(range) a group of cells which can either be adjacent or non adjacent
