How many chambers does the human heart have?

4 2x Atria (Atrium's) 2x Ventricles

How many valves does the human heart have?

4 Tricuspid Valve Bicuspid (Mitral) Valve Pulmonary Semilunar Valve Aortic Semilunar Valve

What is the Systemic Circuit?

A network of blood vessels that transport blood from the hearts left ventricle, around the entire body system (excluding the lungs) and back to the hearts right atrium.

What is the Pulmonary Circuit?

A network of blood vessels that transport blood from the hearts right ventricle, around the lungs and back to the hearts left atrium.

What is the name of the blood vessel that takes blood away from the left ventricle?

Aorta (or Aortic Artery )

What is the name of the heart valve that sits between the left ventricle and the aorta?

Aortic Semilunar Valve

Where do you find the Bicuspid (Mitral) Valve?

Between the left atrium and left ventricle

Where do you find the Aortic Semilunar Valve?

Between the left ventricle and the aorta

Where do you find the Tricuspid Valve?

Between the right atrium and right ventricle

Where do you find the Pulmonary Semilunar Valve?

Between the right ventricle and the pulmonary artery

What is the name of the heart valve that sits between the left atria and left ventricle?

Bicuspid Valve (Sometimes called the Mitral Valve, Left Atrioventricular Valve or Left AV Valve)

What is the name of the blood vessel that takes blood away from the right ventricle?

Pulmonary Artery

What is the name of the circuit of blood vessels that goes around the lungs?

Pulmonary Circuit

What is the name of the heart valve that sits between the right ventricle and the pulmonary artery?

Pulmonary Semilunar Valve

What is the name of the blood vessels (there are two) that drops blood off into the left atrium?

Pulmonary Veins

What is the name of the blood vessels (there are two) that drops blood off into the right atrium?

Superior Vena Cava Inferior Vena Cava (These are both veins)

What is the name of the circuit of blood vessels that goes around the body (excluding the lungs)?

Systemic Circuit

What do the Chordae Tendineae do?

They are found in each ventricle. In the right ventricle one end of the chordae tendineae attaches to the Tricuspid Valve, and the other end attaches to the Pupillary Muscles along the inside of the right venricle wall. In the left ventricle one end of the chordae tendineae attaches to the Bicuspid (Mitral) Valve, and the other end attaches to the Pupillary Muscles along the inside of the left venricle wall. They help make sure that the valves keep working as one way valves. Commonly called "heart strings".

Why does the human heart have valves?

To act as one way doors. This means blood can flow in one way but not back the other. Blood should always keep flowing around the body in one direction.

What is the name of the heart valve that sits between the right atria and right ventricle?

Tricuspid Valve (Sometimes called the Right Atrioventricular Valve or Right AV Valve)
