Jehoiachin:

19th king of Judah, He was king for a few months (c.598 B.C.) after the death of his father (Jehoiakim.) He and his court were carried away into exile by Nebuchadnezzar to Babylon and imprisoned. On the death of Nebuchadnezzar he was freed and given honorable treatment.

Jeroboam I

1st king of Israel, He was an Ephraimite and led a revolt against Solomon, inspired probably by the restlessness of North Palestine under southern rule. he fled to Egypt when the plot failed but returned on the accession of Solomon's son, Rehoboam. When the new king would not satisfy the northerners, he led a secession, leaving the house of David only Judah and some of the area of Benjamin. he became notorious for fostering idolatry in his kingdom of Israel.

Jehoiakim:

18th king of Judah, son of Josiah. He was given the name by the Egyptians as a sign of his vassal status. From 605 B.C., after the Babylonians defeated Egypt, he became a vassal of Nebuchadnezzar. However, after three years, he rebelled. He died in 598 just as Nebuchadnezzar was besieging Jerusalem. He was succeeded by his son Jehoiachin.

Amaziah

9th king of Judah, The two incidents of his reign were the conquest of Edom, including the capture of Petra, and an unprovoked attack by Amaziah on King Jehoash of Israel. Amaziah was assassinated at Lachish

Jehu

10th king of Israel, He was anointed king by Elisha, who led the revolt against the house of Ahab. he murdered King Jehoram of Israel and King Ahaziah of Judah and the rest of the house of Ahab. he also paid tribute to Shalmaneser III (Assyria)

Uzziah (or Azariah):

10th king of Judah, son and successor of Amaziah. He rebuilt Elath, (a port on the Gulf of Aqaba). He was stricken with leprosy after usurping the duties of high priest. He was succeeded by Jotham. He is referred to as Ozias in the Gospel of St. Matthew.

Jehoahaz (or Joahaz)

11th king of Israel, son and successor of Jehu. He presided over an era of severe reduction of territory and prestige for the northern kingdom. he was king of Judah for three months in 609 B.C. after the death of his father Josiah in battle against the Egyptians.

Jotham

11th king of Judah, The only one of Gideon's sons not killed by Abimelech; noted for his parable of the trees electing the bramble to be their king, King of Judah, son of Uzziah. He was a contemporary of Isaiah, Hosea, and Micah. His name is also spelled Joatham,Descendant of Caleb.

Jehoash (or Joash)

12th king of Israel, son and successor of Jehoahaz. He was generally successful in a war with Damascus, and he conquered Amaziah of Judah. He was succeeded by his son Jeroboam II

12th king of Judah, son of Jotham. His reign marked the end of the real independence of Judah. A coalition of Pekah of Israel and Rezin of Syria attacked him and nearly took Jerusalem. he appealed for help to Tiglathpileser III of Assyria, who defeated his enemies but demanded tribute of Judah. he is sent some Temple gold as payment. The greatest figure of that time in Judah was the prophet Isaiah, who opposed the Assyrian alliance. he is denounced in the Bible for his heathen abominations and his sacrilege with the Temple gold. In his reign Judah lost Elath, its Red Sea port, permanently. he was succeeded by Hezekiah.

Jeroboam Il

13th king of Israel, son of Jehoash, whom he succeeded. His reign was marked by increasing prosperity and expansion northward, but also by corruption. Amos and Hosea appeared under his rule

13th king of Judah, son and successor of Ahaz. During his reign Sennacherib of Assyria routed (701 B.C.) the rebellious Jews, laid seige to Jerusalem, and exacted a high indemnity from them. he built the famous Siloam Tunnel when the water supply was threatened by the approach of the Assyrian forces. However, a plague in the Assyrian army saved (690 B.C.) Judah from a second invasion by Sennacherib. iss reign was marked by the prophecies of Isaiah and Micah and by reforms to purify the religion of Israel by eliminating certain Canaanite practices. The country also experienced great material prosperity. His son and successor was Manasseh

Zechariah

14th king of Israel, son and successor of Jeroboam II. After ruling six months he was murdered by Shallum, who seized the throne.

15th king of Israel, He killed King Zachariah for the throne and was himself killed by Menahem.

Amon

15th king of Judah, son and successor of Manasseh. According to Chronicles, he was inattentive to the worship of God, and the accounts accordingly denounce him strongly. However, his worship of other gods indicates that he, like his father, was an Assyrian vassal. he was murdered, and Josiah succeeded him.

Menahem

16th king of Israel, He was governor of Tirzah and murdered Shallum for the throne of Samaria. he was made a tributary by Tiglathpileser III to Assyria

16th king of Judah, son and successor of Amon. The great event of his reign came in its 18th year, when the book of the law, apparently Deuteronomy, was found in the Temple. Josiah had it read publicly, and a reform movement began to concentrate everything in worship at Jerusalem. pharaoh Necho set out to help the Assyrians in Haran, he opposed him and fell, at Megiddo. He was succeeded by his son Jehoahaz.

Pekahiah

17th king of Israel, son and successor of Menahem. His reign was ended by his murder at the hands of his general Pekah.

Jehoahaz (or Joahaz)

17th king of Judah, son and successor of Jehu. He presided over an era of severe reduction of territory and prestige for the northern kingdom.

Pekah

18th king of Israel, He was a general under King Pekahiah and murdered him for the throne. As the head of an anti-Assyrian coalition, he went to war with Ahaz of Judah. Ahaz requested and received help from Tiglathpileser III, and as a result he lost the northern and eastern parts of his kingdom to Assyria. His successor was Hoshea.

Abijah

2nd King of Judah, Tribe of Judah, Son of Jeroboam, succeeded Jeroboam as king and his death was used by a prophet to foreshadow the death of Jeroboam

Nadab

2nd king of Israel, son and successor of Jeroboam I. He was assassinated by Baasha in the siege of Gibbethon.

Baasha

3rd king of Israel, He made himself king by the murder of King Nadab and the royal family. His reign as king of the schismatic northern kingdom is assessed negatively in 1 Kings and 2 Chronicles. He fought against Asa of Judah,

Asa

3rd king of Judah, Tribe of Judah, Son of Abijah. he succeeded Abijah He was a good king, zealous in his extirpation of idols. When Baasha of Israel took Ramah, he bought the help of Benhadad of Damascus and recaptured Ramah.

Elah

4th king of Israel, son and successor of Baasha. He was murdered, and succeeded, by Zimri.

Jehoshaphat

4th king of Judah, Tribe of Judah, Son of Asa, he succeeded Asa, He continued his father's religious reforms. He was an ally of Ahab, who was king of Israel, and his successors, and he was the first king of Judah to make a treaty with the kingdom of Israel.

Zimri

5th king of Israel, king of Israel for a few days. He was one of Elah's generals; he killed the king and held the throne until Omri rebelled.

Jehoram (or Joram)

6th king of Judah, son of Ahab. He was a worthy successor of his father only in that he followed Ahab's religious views. He was succeeded by his brother Jehoram 1. He was considered a typical descendant of Ahab. He was killed in Jehu's coup while visiting at Jezreel. His mother succeeded him. He is also called Azariah and Jehoahaz.

Athaliah

7th Queen of Judah, The only queen to occupy the throne of Judah, daughter of Ahab of Israel, wife of Jehoram, She had the males of the royal family murdered, but her stepdaughter Jehosheba hid away a baby son of Ahaziah. Some years later, Jehosheba and her husband Jehoiada1 effected a coup in favor of this baby, Jehoash

7th king of Israel, he was noted for marring Jezebel and the introduction of idol worship on a national scale, he was killed after trying to be a chariot driver and repented

Joash (or Jehoash):

8th king of Judah,son of Jehoahaz, he succeeded Athaliah as king, He was generally successful in a war with Damascus, and he conquered Amaziah of Judah. When his father was murdered and his grandmother Athaliah seized the power he was saved by his aunt and uncle, Jehosheba and Jehoiada

Jehoram (the first)

9th king of Israel, Son of Ahab, king of Israel (c.852-841 B.C.), brother and successor of Ahaziah. He enlisted the support of Jehoshaphat of Judah to put down a revolt in Moab. he was wounded in an attack on Ramoth-gilead and retired to Jezreel. Final king of Israel, He succeeded Pekah, whom he murdered. He was a tributary of Assyria but made the fatal mistake of aligning himself with Egypt against his Assyrian overlord,

He had a squad of elite fighters called mighty men and commit manslaughter on one to cover-up him impregnating the man's wife. (often regarded as one off the greatest King of the Ancient Hebrews)

Zedekiah

The last king of Judah, He was the third son of Josiah, his name was originally Mattaniah, he succeeded Jehoiachin. He was set on the throne as the puppet of Nebuchadnezzar, he ended up allying himself with the Egyptian pharaoh Apries (Hophra). This violated an agreement with Nebuchadnezzar, and the Chaldaeans came to Palestine and destroyed the kingdom of Judah. he was carried with his people into captivity in Babylonia.

*Solomon*

Third King of the Ancient Hebrews, Tribe of Judah, Son of David, he was anointed king by Zadok the Priest, to succeed David, He is known for asking for wisdom and building the TEMPLE in Jerusalem, he also introduced save labor and idol worship back into the Kingdom of Israel, His notable action was resolving a dispute involving 2 prostitutes and 2 babies (one dead, one living)
