Culture in Honduras is largely celebrated through dance. Most of the dances are Folk dances that represent different things like life and seeking good values. Some of these dances are called the mascaro and the malido wanaragua.

Elvia Alvardo is a Honduran human rights activist. She began working through the Catholic church by helping give food to people in need. For more then 30 years she has been helping Honduran people with their rights and different land reform problems. She is very concerned about her people especially because Honduras is the poorest country in central America. Elvia is also very passionate about the women and the children in Honduras.

People from Honduras are called Hondurans, but in Spanish it is pronounced as Hondurenos or Catracho. Some of the languages spoken in Honduras besides Spanish are Garifuna, Miskito, and Sumo. Most of the people who live there are Mestizo, which is European and Indigenous, AfroHonduran, and Amerindian.

The capital of Honduras is Tegucigalpa. It became the capital in 1880 because it is the largest city in Honduras with almost 1.2 million people living there today. Some other major cities in Honduras are San Pedro Sula with a population of 567,000 and La Cieba with 204,000 people.

The currency in Honduras is Honduran Lempira. The subunit to this is centavos. if you don't know what a subunit is, that is like cents to U.S. dollars. Honduras used to use pesos before they were replaced my Lempira in 1931.

The food in Honduras is very similar to food in other Spanish speaking countries. Baleadas, which are thick tortillas topped with refried beans and other topping are very popular in honduras. Carne asada which is beef is also another popular food.

The president of Honduras is Juan Orlando Hernandez. he is the fifty-fifth president of Honduras. He has been in office since January 27, 2014. He has just started his second term and soon will be the first non-Israeli leader to be honored at the Independence day ceremony in Israel.

many important places in Honduras are apart of mature. La Tigra National park is the oldest park in Honduras and considered one of the richest natural habitats in the world. The Copan Ruins is a city that was very important to the Mayan Civilization and a very famous tourist attraction when visiting Honduras. Gumbalimba park is also a famous tourist attraction because of the beautiful plants, but also because of its animal sanctuary.
