Behavioral mapping

A type of systematic observation research that tracks behavior over space and time; Photographing people within a space, such as a hospital waiting room, over two or three days.

Brainstorming

An intense, idea-generating session analyzing data gathered by observing people.

Unfocus group

Interviewing a diverse group of people: For example, to explore ideas about sandals, IDEO gathered an artist, a bodybuilder, a podiatrist, and a shoe fetishist.

Deep Dive

It is a total immersion into the project; a combination of brainstorming, prototyping, and feedback loops merged into an approach that executives can use with teams to help develop solutions for specific business challenges.

Rapid prototyping

Mocking up working models to help everyone visualize possible solutions.

Design thinking

This approach brings together what is desirable from a human point of view (Desirability) with what is technologically feasible (Feasibility) and economically viable (Viability).

T-shaped people

This type of people are individuals who are experts in some area but also have a broad range of skills in other areas (or willing to learn across all disciplines).
