Gulf of Mexico

A large gulf connected to the Atlantic Ocean, north of the Caribbean Sea; makes up the northern border of the Greater Antilles, the southern border of the Gulf states, and the eastern border of Mexico.

São Francisco River

A river in Eastern Brazil that flows northeast before curving and flowing southeast and emptying into The Atlantic.

Orinoco River

A river in Venezuela that has a huge delta; the third largest river system in Latin America.

Uruguay River

Flows near the western border of Uruguay and empties into the Río de la Plata.

Paraguay River

Flows through the middle of Paraguay and empties into the Río de la Plata.

Lake Titicaca

Highest navigable lake in the world (12644 ft above sea level); located on the border of Bolivia and Peru.

Highest waterfall in the world, located in Venezuela near the Orinoco River.

Pacific Ocean

Largest and deepest ocean in the world; located to the west of the Americas. It is where the international date line is found.

Lake Nicaragua

Largest lake in Central America, located in Nicaragua.

Iguazú Falls

Largest waterfall in the world, located on the border of Brazil and Argentina, near the Paraná River.

Located in Bolivia; nearly dried up now.

Located near oil fields in Venezuela, inlet of Caribbean Sea.

Gulf of California (Sea of Cortés)

Narrow gulf to the east of Baja California, on the western border of mainland Mexico.
