31 Jan - 31 July SEMI ANNUALLY Transferring Discharging Promotion to CPL/ SGT
Regular Promotion
All requirements must be met, plus Commander has to agree on promotion To PFC - 6 Months TIS To LCPL - 8 Months TIG or 9 Months TIS
MCO 1400.32 Promotion to NCO
Marine must provide potential, motivation, maturity and satisfactory efforts for duties. Promo to Cpl - 8 Months TIG 12 months TIS Eligible LCPL can be promoted if they meet requirements and are recommended by commander. Promo to SGT - 12 months TIG 24 Months TIS Same promo system as cpl
Proficiency Marks
Indicates how well a Marine does their duty Reflects their technical skills and knowledge Consider when a marine fills a billet inconsistent with their grade
Meritorious promotion
Intended to promote marines superior to their peers. TIG can be waved TIS compliance is mandatory Commanders look at: PME requirements in grade Performance in duties

Within 3 months of NJP, Failed testing, during Eval process of appearance or body composition
