LESSON 3: RATIO AND PROPORTION
KINDS OF PROPORTION
DIRECT, INDIRECT OR INVERSE AND PARTITIVE
INDIRECT OR INVERSE PROPORTION
exists when two quantities, x and y, of the proportion are inversely proportional.
DIRECT PROPORTION
exists when two quantities, x and y, of the proportion vary directly or are in direct variation; that is , if x increases (or decreases) , then y increases (or decreases) also by the samefactor or constant
RATIO
is a comparison of two numbers or quantities
RATE
is a special ratio of two numbers with different units in measurement such as kilometers per hour, words per minute , or price per kilogram.
PROPORTION
it refers to the statement of equality of two ratios.
PARTITIVE PROPORTION
