Re (Ra)(Amon-Re)

Chief Egyptian god, god of the sun. Depicted as a man with the head of a hawk. Possessed the crook and flail--a symbol of the position of pharaoh. Sailed across the sky each day in a boat and passed through the underworld each night where he would have to defeat Apophis. Merged with Amon to become the most powerful deity in the Egyptian Pantheon
