Everyone has certain rights they are born with and can never be taken away. Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of happiness.

All men are created equal

Everyone should be treated the same, and one person is not better than anyone else (although this did not necessarily apply to women, enslaved people, and Native Americans)

The Declaration of Independence was signed by the Second Continental Congress on July 4. It dissolved the colonies' ties with Britain, listed grievances against King George III, and declared the colonies to be an independent nation. We celebrate Independence Day on July 4.
