RA-RTSP
RAID
(redundant array of independent disks) is a way of storing the same data in different places on multiple hard disks or solid-state drives (SSDs) to protect data in the case of a drive failure. There are different RAID levels, however, and not all have the goal of providing redundancy.
RJ
A registered jack (RJ) is a standardized physical network interface for connecting telecommunications or data equipment. The physical connectors that registered jacks use are mainly of the modular connector and 50-pin miniature ribbon connector types.
RA
A registration authority (RA) is an authority in a network that verifies user requests for a digital certificate and tells the certificate authority (CA) to issue it.
RG
Radio Guide, a U.S. Army specification for grades of transmission lines. RG specifications refer to forms of coaxial cable used in networking, as in the following examples: RG-8: Also known as N series cable, which is a coaxial cable with an impedance of 52 ohms
RTSP
Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) is an application-level network communication system that transfers real-time data from multimedia to an endpoint device by communicating directly with the server streaming the data.
RSSI
Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) is an estimated measurement of how well a device can hear, detect and receive signals from any wireless access point or Wi-Fi router.
RPO
Recovery Point Objective (RPO) describes the interval of time that might pass during a disruption before the quantity of data lost during that period exceeds the Business Continuity Plan's maximum allowable threshold or "tolerance."
RTO
Recovery Time Objective (RTO) is the maximum acceptable amount of time for restoring a network or application and regaining access to data after an unplanned disruption. Loss of revenue and the extent to which a disrupted process impacts business continuity can both have an impact on RTO.
RADIUS
Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service) is a client-server protocol and software that enables remote access servers to communicate with a central server to authenticate dial-in users and authorize their access to the requested system or service.
RDP
Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) provides remote display and input capabilities over network connections for Windows-based applications running on a server.
RIP
Routing Information Protocol (RIP) is a distance-vector routing protocol. Routers running the distance-vector protocol send all or a portion of their routing tables in routing-update messages to their neighbors. You can use RIP to configure the hosts as part of a RIP network.
RF
radio frequency (RF) networks. A radio frequency signal is the wireless electromagnetic signal that extends across an area that carriers use as a form of communication
RFC
stands for Request For Comments) is a document that describes the standards, protocols, and technologies of the Internet and TCP/IP.
