Anatomy

Male reproductive and endocrine organ that produces sperm and testosterone Germ cells and Stromal cells The spermatic cord holds each testicle in the scrotum Each testicle is divided into small segments called lobules

Pathology

Seminoma- 100% seminoma Non-seminoma- mixture or seminoma and nonseminomas; consists of different germ cell tumor subtypes Accompanied by an elevated AFP serum level

Radiation therapy

Very radiosensitve Dog-leg or para aoritc feilds

Staging

TNM Adds consideration on serum tumor markers

Prognosis

95.4% survival rate New cases: 8,720 Deaths: 380

Seminoma is the most common germ cell tumor of the testis Accounts for 50% of all testicular cancers Most common solid malignancy in males age 15-35 Most treatable and curable cancers Survival is 95% 6X more common in whites than blacks Cyptorchidism Family history Previous GCT Oliospermic infertility
