If you already have a standard system that you can pull useful components from to implement a new system this would be beneficial. Incremental development - With this, specification development, and validation are interleaved, and can be plan driven or agile. It is best used when working close to a customer since its easier to get customer feedback. This would work well on a new system that might be used to replace an old system where the customers can be a user group for "testing" purposes. The most critical functions of this new system can be used by them and new features can be added as you go.
