Nerve supply of the Trapezius:

Innervated partially by cranial Nerve XI, which is a spinal accessory nerve. Also innervated by nerve roots C3 & C4.

Retract the shoulder blades (pull together)

Origin of the Trapezius Muscle

The base of the scull at the medial third of the superior nuchai line and the external occipital protuberance. And from the Ligamentum nuchae and the spinous process of the thoracic verebrae.

Insertion of the Trapezius Muscle

Upper Traps: lateral third of the clavicle. Middle Traps: Acromion process of the scapula. Lower Traps: Spine of the scapula.
