period
a group of three places in a number, usually separated by commas. The first three periods are the ones period, the thousands period, and the millions period.
place value
the value assigned to a digit based on its position in a number. For example, the 2 in 324 is in the tens place and has a value of 2 tens or 20.
expanded form
the way a number is written to show the place value of each digit. For example, 249= 200+40+9
standard form
the way a number is written with numerals
word form
the way a number is written with words or said aloud
digit
A symbol used to write numbers. The ten digits are 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9.
