Units of Measurement
Amp (A)
1 Amp = 1 C / s. 1 Coulomb per second. The rate which electric current is moving through an electric circuit. How much charge is moving through a cross section per unit of time.
Joule (J)
1 Joule = 1 Newton * 1 Meter. 1 N-m. The amount of work/ energy transferred.
Volt (V)
1 Volt = 1 J / C. 1 Joule per Coulomb. How much work / energy transferred or needs to be transferred per unit of charge to move electrons from one point in a circuit to another.
Newton (N)
SI Unit of Force. 1 Newton = 1 kg * 1 m/s^2; The amount of force needed to accelerate an object with a mass of 1 kg at a rate of 1 meter per second squared.
Watt (W)
SI Unit of Power. 1 Watt = 1 Joules per second. The amount of work/energy transferred per second.
Horsepower (Hp)
Unit of Power. 1 hp = 33000 lbf-ft per minute or 550 lbf-ft per second. ((Torque * Frequency) / 5252))
