Smoothing

1st Quadrant using 1/4 inch subsections, use back of hard rubber comb gently smoothing hair. Work product to ends. Follow same manner of application for rest of Quadrants.

Strand Test

Check strands in each Quadrant after smoothing for reduction of curl. Look for 80% reduction.

Section Hair

Divide into 4 Quadrants as follows: Center front to nape, Ear to ear clipping each section for control.

Wash Hands

Do this before any service and greeting client.

Acid Balanced Neutralizing shampoo

Used after rinsing, must be shampooed 3 times, some have color indicator that changes when sodium hydroxide is removed. Hair should not smell like rotten eggs. Product brings hair and scalp back to normal pH range.

Rinsing

Use warm water with strong flow to remove sodium hydroxide from hair and scalp, pay attention to nape

Sodium Hydroxide Relaxer

Use clean spatula(prevents contamination) to take enough product to cover whole head. Fill up Chemical bowl.

Normalizing lotion

some manufacturer's have this as well as acid balance neutralizing shampoo. Applied to whole head, gently combed through left on for 5 minutes then rinsed. For bringing hair and scalp back to normal pH range.

Application for front

At crown of quadrant 3 (left front) apply to top and bottom of cold strand gently laying in quadrant section and using safety when appling near face and eyes.

Start application

Back right quadrant, 1/4 inch sub-section. Apply on top and bottom of cold strand gently laying into section continue in same manner through whole quadrant.

Condition and style

Condition hair with appropriate conditioner and style hair.

Client Consultation

Make sure hair is completely dry. Do hair and scalp analysis, checking for abrasions, porosity, elasticity and texture. Have client sign chemical release waiver

Disinfect and Set up

Make sure station is disinfected with EPA broad spectrum disinfecting solution. Have all implements ready for service.

Manufacturer's Directions

Make sure to read Manufacturer's directions before service for important information on application, processing time and strength associated with hair type.

Put on gloves

Put on gloves to prevent irritation to hands.

Client Record Card

Record your results on Client card for future chemical services.

Application at scalp

Return to 1st quadrant, apply at scalp being careful not to get on scalp. Follow through each 1/4 inch sub-section gently laying on top of head. Continue using same application through rest of head.

Apply protective cream

Use clean spatula(prevents contamination) to take enough product to cover hairline, around ear tips and entire scalp, put on tissue

Chemical Drape

Used to protect client from chemicals, sanek, towel, plastic cape and towel.

Paper towel

used for any drips that may occur
