Calcitriol

Also called 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3, is the hormonally active form of Vit D3. It increases the levels of calcium in the blood by increasing the uptake of calcium from the gut into the blood and possibly increasing the release of Ca2 into the blood from bone.

Calcidiol

Also called Calcifediol or 25-hydroxyvitamin D Is a prehormone produced in the liver by the hydroxylation of Vitamin D2 calcifediol is then converted in the kidneys by the enzyme 25/OHd-lahydroxylase into calcitriol, a secosterioid hormone that is the active form of Vitamin D.

Calcium Supplement

Calcium is the fifth most abundant element in the human body with 1,000 g present in adults. It is the essential element that is only available to the body through dietary sources. Plays a key role in skeletal mineralization as well as a wide range of biologic functions.

D2 (Ergocalciferol) D3 (cholecalciferol) 400-5,000 IUld.

IOM recommends 19-50, 200/51-70 400/71 up 600 IUld Persons with dark skin need over 800 IUld.

Calcium Citrate

Is a calcium salt or citric acid. Commonly used as a food additive. Found in dietary calcium supplements (citracal). People who are sensitive to antacids or have problems with adequate stomach acid should choose calcium citrate.

Ergocalciferol D2

Is a provitamin form of Vitamin D also called Vitamin D2. It is created when ultrviolet light activates ergosterol. Maybe used as a Vitamin D supplement. Deltalin, Drisdoll, Calcidol.

Calcium carbonate

Used medcinally as a calcium supplement or as an antacid but excess consumption is hazardous. Phosphate binder for tx. of hyperphosphatemia. Pts with chronic renal failure.

Cholecalciferol D3 inactive

Vitamin D3, cholecalciferol (sometimes called calciol) is an inactive unhydroxylated form of Vitamin D3.
