AP Psych: Test Construction
Reliability
-a test is reliable when it yields consistent results
Flynn Effect
-phenomenon of an inflated test score over the years
Criterion
-the behavior that a test is designed to predict
Validity
-the extent to which a test measures or predicts what it is supposed to measure
Predictive validity
-the extent to which a test predicts a particular behavior or trait
3 criteria of a test
- must be standardized, reliable, and valid
Normal curve
-normal distribution of scores on a tested population in a bell shape -in perfect normal distribution, mean, median, adn mode are same
Reliability using different tests
-using different forms of the test to measure consistency
Test-retest reliability
-using the same test on 2 occasions to measure consistency
Content validity
-the extent to which a test measures a particular behavior or trait
Split-half reliability
-dividing the test into 2 equal halves and seeing how consistent scores are
Standardization
-involves giving the test to a representative sample of future test takers in order to est. a basis
