Reliability

-a test is reliable when it yields consistent results

Flynn Effect

-phenomenon of an inflated test score over the years

Criterion

-the behavior that a test is designed to predict

Validity

-the extent to which a test measures or predicts what it is supposed to measure

Predictive validity

-the extent to which a test predicts a particular behavior or trait

3 criteria of a test

- must be standardized, reliable, and valid

Normal curve

-normal distribution of scores on a tested population in a bell shape -in perfect normal distribution, mean, median, adn mode are same

Reliability using different tests

-using different forms of the test to measure consistency

Test-retest reliability

-using the same test on 2 occasions to measure consistency

Content validity

-the extent to which a test measures a particular behavior or trait

Split-half reliability

-dividing the test into 2 equal halves and seeing how consistent scores are

Standardization

-involves giving the test to a representative sample of future test takers in order to est. a basis
