Authentic Assessment

The tasks are either replicas of or analogous to the kind of problems faced by adult citizens and consumers or professionals in the field

What needs to be observed daily while the students are still working on the accomplishment of the performance task?

Goal

What task do I want the students to achieve? Provide a statement of the task. Establish the goal, problem, challenge, or obstacle in the task.

Performance

What will the student's create/develop? Clarify what the students will create and why they will create it.

Situation

What's the context? The challenge? Set the context of the scenario. Explain the situation.

Role

What's the student's role in the task Define the role of the students in the task. State the job of the students for the task.

Audience

Who is the student's target audience Identify the target audience within the context of the scenario. Example audiences might include a client or committee.

Portfolio

containing pieces of evidence of an individual's/ group's skills, ideas, interests, and accomplishments

Authentic assessments

have several advantages over conventional tests. Because they involve real-world tasks, they are also likely to be more interesting for students, and thus more motivating.
