CC 2 blue caustic scrubbers scrub
All that's vented from neutralizer, chlorinator, acid strippers, and HCN tanks
Lime bin is full
Ask Hayden to change out the grit bin when you clean the slaker. You need a mixed sample in a ziplock bag to bring to environmental lab along with paper work.
Chlorine has to go below the water level in the neutralizer why?
Because it can't interact with the titanium shaft which could cause an explosion and it would go to the vent caustic scrubbers.
Why vent header NCL3 concentration 0.8?
Because you are making NCL3
How to counteract cyanide poisoning
Break Amyl nitrate capsule
calcium cyanide and calcium hypochlorite produce
CNCL cyanogen chloride
lime (calcium carbonate)is slacked to form

Coagulates the solids and brings them down called sludge where it's pressed out.
What controls the differential pressure on the HCL stripper?
Dampener controls the differential pressure Liquid falls down and air from the blower blows up.
Increase or decrease in pH makes NCL3 more likely to form
Decrease in pH
How is liquid from the neutralizer and Chlorinator kept from getting in the vac line going to CC?
Draining the vent headers 2x a shift

When going around turns in fork lift you do what?
Honk the horn around turns.
Why Neutralizer and Chlorinator mixer drive current greater than 9.5?
If empty amps would increase because less no resistance level instrument could be clogged. Which chlorine could interact with ammonia causing NCL3.
What will happen when the lime strength is not in spec?
If too weak your pH will be low and NCL3 could form. If too strong it would plug up going to the shaker screens.
Clean lime shoot twice a shift
Inform board to turn off slaker, close water valve, wash out vent hole, open up door scrap down the lime caked up, close it back up, acid wash shaker screens, clean out grit shoot by screw make sure it's still screwing and the shakers are still shaking, turn water back to open tell board water is open.
If raining in AWT only
It's coming from the chlorinator and neutralizer vents. Inform the board stop all flows. Do the level taps. If it doesn't work. Unplug with rod along side. Tell board to open control valves at 100% and or turn on both pumps to level it down.
How do we maintain good mixing and consistent feed from south HCN tank to AWT neutralizer?
Jet Mixer
When going on an incline or decline you do what with the forks?
Keep forks up.
What is the purpose of the clarifier rake?
Keep it agitated and stirred up so it won't solidify and to suck it out as mud/sludge.
Neutralizer dilution flow
Less than 200
Neutralizer and chlorinator average orp
Less than 400
Neutralizer pH control NaOH and Lime
Less than 5.9 pH
If leak and unsure where it's coming from
Lightly tighten all the bolts
Slaking water
Lime mixes with water causes an exothermic reaction which creates calcium hydroxide which is a base
Lock out tag out
Look for empty box no paper Example EO lock box 20 Get locks from white bucket Get Manila blank tag put on box #20 on the hook where the black lock is Get zip ties, orange cable locks, red lock "6 pack" for multiple locks, Permanent marker, green tags for locks for breakers with red 6 pack lock and green locks for valves inlet and discharge , yellow tags for zip ties for switches and bleeds Keep bleeds open with yellow tag, lock out inlet, discharge, lock seal flush closed, lock out breaker, check switch start then pin through stop and yellow tag checked out in the field.
What are the possible reasons for high Cl2 in the Clarifier?
Low in sodium thio which is used to neutralize Cl2 you need to increase the feed rate of thio. Not enough HCN = excess Cl2, Too much Cl2 in dirty acid HCL.
If you see an NCl3 spike
Lower HCN effluent and you should decrease dirty HCl
Why pH less than 5.9?
Lower pH is easier for formation of NCL3 and the retention needs a high pH to neutralize NH3 and HCN.
When parked fork lift
Make sure your fork tips touches the ground
How is NCL3 formed?
NH3+Cl2
NCL3
NH3+Cl2
What are the 4 main specifications for the following system and indicate the normal values?

Cl2 goes directly to
Neutralizer because Cl2 interacts with titanium and causes an exothermic reaction.
Where do you find the max weight load for a fork lift?
On the plaque.
Send lime to utilities
Open lime valve that says utilities
Chlorinator
PH less than 5.5
What affects TSS?
Polymer flow rate which coagulated solids and brings them down as mud to get pressed out.
What is the purpose of the rake in the clarifier
Rake is pushing the mud/sludge to the middle hole where it is pumped out to the filter press and given to farmers.

How is temperature controlled on the lime slaker?
Temperature water
After the lime truck papers are signed make sure
The cap is plugged on the lime line is on and add air for at least 5 minutes.
What happens when you exceed max flow in AWT
The clarifier will overflow
What could be a potential cause of slaker temperature swings?
Too much dilution water, silo or chute plugged up: temperature drops; If lime is too concentrated and the temperature will increase.

Brief description on AWT start up
Water flowing through it called water batching. Levels neutralizer and chlorinator to 65%. Turn on the bypass because interlocks start up. Introduce lime first and spoon feed acid. Playing with the pH until it gets stable bring acid up to 50% flow rate. Auto cascade lime and acid around 50. Make sure it's stable bring acid up to 75% flow rate. Dilution water cascade to acid. Bring chlorine to 25% valve. Until it's stable. You have a 20 minute bypass. Bring in HCN. When orps dropping. Increase the chlorine.
