Cautious use: renal impairment, renal-artery stenosis; patient with hypovolemia, receiving diuretics, undergoing dialysis; patients in whom excessive hypotension would present a hazard (cardiovascular insufficiency) CHF; hepatic impairment; diabetes mellitus

Benazepril /Lostensin: action & therapeutic effect
Lower blood pressure by specific inhibition of the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) and thus by decreasing angiotensin II (a potent vascoconstrictor) and aldosterone secretion
Benazepril/Lostensin: drug interaction:
Postassium sparing diuretics may increase the risk of hyperkalemia. May increase lithium levels to toxicity
Benazepril/Lostensin patient & family education
do not use salt substitutes unless recommended, report swelling of face, eyes, lips or tongue or difficulty breathing

hypotention, headache, dizziness fatigue, weakness, hyperkalemia, Nausea diarrhea

monitor serum potassium levels
