This is a prompt that is conveyed in spoken language from one person to another or a group of people. Prompts include tone, speed, pitch and the actual words in the message
Targeting
To adapt a message to an audience based on certain characteristics such as age, income level, values, etc.
active listening
an ongoing process of analyzing and evaluating what another person is saying in an effort to completely understand the speaker's feelings or the true meaning of the message
feedback
any message that aids a communicator in evaluating the success of previous messages. The responses of the receiver that shape and alter subsequent messages from the source

involves using a more structured, professional means of communication. Communication which passes through predefined channels in an organization.

DECA method

Semantics
deals with the meaning of language. it is a branch of linguistics that deals with the way signs relate to things, specifically with the meaning of words, phrases, and expressions. also, deals with aspects of denotation and connotation
layman terms
language everybody can understand (opposite of Jargon)
nonverbal communication
perceptual information communicated in a social exchange by signs accompanying the words used in speech. Such cues include body language, tone, and other elements of voice, dress, etc.
