Being humane is not souly a human idea/being kind to others is universal in the animal world as well/Humane and civilization complicate the idea of humanity. Ex. (Curly, Skeet, and Nig) Buck was kind to John Thorton.
Companionship
Buck seeks it throughout the novel. He is never truly alone-He is surrounded by people or other dogs. Ex. Buck finally finds his true companion in John Thorton

Everyone is suited for a particular kind of word and is happiest when he/she is engaged in that work. Ex. Buck was happiest when pulling the sled./Humane and civilization complicate

Power over dogs-because of strength/Power s only useful if it is exerted. Ex. Buck took over as lead dog. -killed bear and moose

The strongest will survive/Ex. Buck out lasts every dog and person.
