Marley drags a chain of his fate from all of his life. Marley says, "Mankind was my business. The common welfare was my business; charity, mercy, forbearance, benevolence, were, all, my business... I am here tonight to warn you that you have yet a chance and hope of escaping my fate."(33-35). He says this because all of his sins he has to make up for, he needs to do penance. (1)

Realization and self reflection can cause a sudden change in someone's life. In Scene 387-126 Scrooge realizes what he did wrong and wishes he hasn't done that when Marley talks to Scrooge again. We have learned that sorrow or realization can cause sudden change in someone's life. Scrooge looking back in his past, made him see something he regretted doing. (3)

Deduce, What effects have Scrooge's past experiences had on the person he has become? (2)

Since Scrooge was lonely and mistreated when he was young, that effect had passed down to his older self, making him as he is. He is very rude, greedy, and self centered. There was nobody there to correct him as a child, so he kept on doing what he does. (2)
