The Treaty of Paris allowed Quebec's Francophones to continue to speak French and practice Catholicism. French citizens desire to remain Catholic and French. Also high birth rates and isolated lifestyle ensured a growing and culturally homogeneous group.
What are some of the economic challenges that Quebec has faced over the years in its primary sector as compared to its secondary sector?
Used to grow wheat until Western Canada and the Great Plains made it impossible to compete economically. Also used to grow asbestos until it became linked with cancer and the market was eliminated. In the secondary sectors, Quebecs abundance of electrical power led to an explosion of iron, steel, and chemical production factories. However, most of the industries were owned by multinational corporations in English Speaking Canada or the United States.
