today half of the wetland ecosytem is gone. their is a lot of habitat loss, and some animal populations have decreased about 90 percent. th change in water flow is the biggest impact.

why are wetlands important to people?

wetlands act as natural water filters. They also help with flood control from heavy rains by the water being absorbed. people once thought they were not important so they drained a lot of them. Wetlands also make the climate more moderate.

wetlands are important because of their sheltered waters and rich supply of nutrients, wetlands provide habitats for many living things. many species of animals live in wetlands year-round.
