Talented
Refers to those who have outstanding skills in other areas, such as music, art, theater, dance, or leadership.
special needs
A broad range of physical, intellectual, social, and behavioral challenges that affect learning.
Limited English Proficiency (LEP)
A person's difficulty in communicating effectively in English because English is not his or her native or primary language.
Steroetype
A preconceived generalization about a person or group of people.
learning disorders
A processing problem that involves the central nervous system in children who generally have average to above average intelligence. Such problems may interfere with learning, such as skills in math, reading, and writing.
developmental disability
A severe long-term (often lifelong) disability that can impact intellectual ability, socio-emotional ability, and physical functioning, or all areas.
Inclusion
A situation in which students with special needs are placed in regular classes with the requirement that they will benefit from the classes, even if they are not able to keep up academically with class requirements.
