Proteins: Filtered in the glomerulus? Reabsorbed? (if yes)Location where reabsorption takes place?

Yes (small proteins); Yes; PCT

Creatinine: Filtered in the glomerulus? Reabsorbed? (if yes)Location where reabsorption takes place?

Yes; No reabsorption

Amino Acids: Filtered in the glomerulus? Reabsorbed? (if yes)Location where reabsorption takes place?

Yes; Yes; PCT

Glucose: Filtered in the glomerulus? Reabsorbed? (if yes)Location where reabsorption takes place?

Yes; Yes; PCT

Uric Acid: Filtered in the glomerulus? Reabsorbed? (if yes)Location where reabsorption takes place?

Yes; Yes; PCT

Water: Filtered in the glomerulus? Reabsorbed? (if yes)Location where reabsorption takes place?

Yes; Yes; PCT and descending loop of henle

Electrolytes (sodium, potassium, chloride): Filtered in the glomerulus? Reabsorbed? (if yes) Location where reabsorption takes place?

Yes; Yes; PCT, ascending loop, Na and K sometimes in collecting duct

Capsular hydrostatic pressure (CHP)

blood pressure (10mmHg) force of fluid in capsular space; opposes filtration pushing water back into blood of glomerular capillaries

Colloid osmotic pressure (COP)

blood pressure (30mmHg) created by presence of proteins/solutes; OPPOSES filtration and PULLS water into glomerular capillaries via osmosis

Glomerular hydrostatic pressure (GHP)

blood pressure (50mmHg) in the glomerular capillaries pushes fluid/solutes out of glomerulus into capsular space

What is the relationship between NFR and GFR?

increased NFR = increased GFR decreased NFR = decreased GFR

pH of Urine

normal is 4.5-8 high- blue low- orange

Glycosuria

presence of glucose in the urine dip test: positive- dark green/red negative- blue

Ketouria

presence of ketones in the urine dip test: positive- pink/dark red negative- tan

Proteinuria

presence of protein in urine dip test: positive- green/blue negative- yellow

Urea: Filtered in the glomerulus? Reabsorbed? (if yes)Location where reabsorption takes place?

Yes; Yes; PCT

Net Filtration Pressure

GHP- (COP + CHP) = NFP 50 - ( 30 + 10 ) = 10 mmHg

Erythrocyte: Filtered in the glomerulus?

No

Leukocyte: Filtered in the glomerulus?

No

Ketones: Filtered in the glomerulus?

No (sometimes in diabetics though)
